The Iranian People's Struggle for Freedom and Democracy
Musa Al-Maani

The West has expressed its unwavering support for the Shah's dictatorship in the past, adopting the same approach towards the mullahs' dictatorship, which has fostered a long-standing state of political decay. This has incited hostility from the peoples of the region, foremost among them the Iranian people, who have been seeking their stolen freedom and kidnapped dignity for decades.
The Shah's era was imposed by the West to serve its high-reaching interests without regard for the aspirations of the Iranian people, disregarding their collective sensibility, and undermining everything that conflicts with its approach. This fostered the resentment of the regional populations towards policies devoid of sound logic and disrespectful of civilized human values, attempting to entrench oppressive rule and arrogance at the expense of peoples whose rights have been systematically violated, prompting them to confront the regime using all available means to rid themselves of the nightmare of rampant tyranny.

The Iranian People's Uprising
The uprising aims to overthrow the mullah regime and replace it with a democratic, national system. It is a movement born from the people's desire for a decent life in peace with the nations of the world. Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the elected President of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, delivered an important speech at the European Parliament session in Strasbourg on June 18, 2025, presenting radical solutions for Iran's future and emphasizing the need for structural change to achieve freedom and social justice. She pointed to the deep, multi-dimensional crisis imposed by the religious regime, saying: "Iran is on the brink of a historic shift, as the crisis leading to the fall of the religious regime has shattered its pillars of power. Today, the Iranian people are more committed to change than ever before."

The Regional War and Appeasement
Rajavi highlighted the regional war that erupted on June 13, 2025, which contradicts Western appeasement policies towards Tehran and has destabilized the region. She stated: “Appeasement is what has led to war; the true solution is changing the regime through the people's organized resistance.” She described the mullah regime as beyond reform, a source of terrorism, and unceasing in its pursuit of nuclear weapons. She called for recognizing the Iranian resistance, saying: “What we have always advocated is resistance, just as Europeans historically resisted religious fascism.”

Executions and Protests
Rajavi addressed the more than 1,350 executions in Iran since August 2024, the highest execution rate globally. She also highlighted over 3,000 protests conducted by resistance units in the past year, affirming: “There are no protests or resistance of this scale and persistence anywhere else in the world like in Iran.” In her concluding remarks, she emphasized that the only way to achieve peace and stability in Iran and the region is through a regime change led by the people and the resistance. She urged the international community to support this solution and recognize the rights of the Iranian people for freedom and democracy.

Western Support for the Regime
The survival of the mullah regime has been sustained by extensive Western support, enabling it to oppress the Iranian people and persecute and displace regional populations. This support has blocked the Iranian peoples' revolutions aimed at overthrowing the regime and establishing a democratic order according to the Ten-Point Program adopted by the resistance led by Rajavi. Western backing has not only propped up the regime but also worked to weaken the Iranian resistance, maintaining the regime's continuity.

Rejecting Western Policies
We condemn Western appeasement policies and reject their attempts to dismantle the Iranian state or impose a political system against the will of the people—such as re-marketing remnants of the Shah's dictatorship. We call on the West to recognize the Iranian people's right to confront the mullah regime by all legitimate means and support Iran's Ten-Point Program for a democratic, free, and non-nuclear future. There is no better option than listening to the voice of the Iranian people, who reject all forms of dictatorship and strive for freedom.
