Wasn't the world in no need of these wars...
إسماعيل المشاقبة

For decades, the Iranian people have suffered under oppressive regimes, beginning with the Shah’s dictatorship, imposed by the West to protect its interests, and continuing with the regime of the mullahs, which has remained under similar Western support. These regimes, which arrogantly ignored the will of the Iranian people, fueled widespread discontent and incited regional populations’ aversion to policies lacking maturity and justice, which dismiss human values. Today, the Iranian people continue their struggle for freedom and democracy, refusing to submit to oppression and insisting on their right to self-determination.

The Iranian People's Uprising

The will of the Iranian people is evident in their ongoing revolts against the regime of the mullahs, aiming to overthrow it and establish a democratic, national system that guarantees peace and a decent life. In her speech before the European Parliament in Strasbourg on June 18, 2025, Ms. Maryam Rajavi, elected president of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, presented a clear vision for Iran’s future, affirming that "Iran is on the brink of a historical transformation, as the crisis of the fall of the religious regime has shaken the pillars of power." She pointed out that the Iranian people are "more committed to change today than ever before."

In her message to protesters in Berlin and Stockholm, Ms. Rajavi emphasized: "Our message is clear: the Iranian people's liberation resistance must be recognized… We say: no to bargaining and maintaining the regime of the mullahs, no to war, but the third solution: change by the people and the resistance of Iran." She added that "peace and security in the region depend on regime change," noting that the Iranian resistance, which has paid a high price over 44 years, is "the largest, longest, and most complex organized resistance in Iran's history," under the slogan "No to the Shah’s regime and no to the Velayat-e Faqih (Guardianship of the Islamic Jurist)."

Iranian Resistance: Vision and Sacrifice

Led by Ms. Maryam Rajavi, the Iranian resistance seeks to establish a democratic republic based on separation of religion and state, gender equality, respect for national minorities and minorities’ rights, judicial independence, abolition of the death penalty, and political pluralism. The resistance is committed to making Iran nuclear-free. Rajavi affirmed: "Change and revolution are unstoppable; the democratic revolution of the Iranian people will triumph." This vision is embodied in the Ten-Point Program, which serves as a roadmap for a free Iran.

On the ground, resistance units carried out more than 3,000 protests last year. The number of executions has exceeded 1,350 since August 2024, the highest worldwide. Rajavi described these protests as "unparalleled in the world in both spread and continuity."

Western Role and Policy of Appeasement

The regime of the mullahs derives its strength from Western support, which not only pandered to it but also constrained the Iranian resistance to ensure its persistence. This support enabled it to suppress the Iranian people and threaten regional stability. Ms. Rajavi pointed out the regional war that erupted on June 13, 2025, stating: "The policy of appeasement is what has caused war. The true solution is regime change by the people and the organized resistance." She called on the international community to recognize the resistance, likening their struggle to the European resistance against religious fascism.

A Call to the World

We condemn the Western policy of appeasement and reject any attempt to impose a political regime opposed to the will of the Iranian people, whether through re-marketing remnants of the Shah’s dictatorship or otherwise. We demand that the West recognize the right of the Iranian people to confront the regime of the mullahs through all lawful means and support the Ten-Point Program for establishing a democratic, free, and non-nuclear Iran. The voice of the Iranian people rejecting dictatorship in all its forms is the only viable option for a prosperous future for Iran and the region.

In Conclusion...

We return to our question: "Wasn't the world in no need of these wars... and what have the West, Arabs, and the world gained from them?" This is the result of the policy of appeasement and acquiescence maintained by the West for nearly four and a half decades — crimes against humanity, human rights violations, double standards, genocides, wars, destruction, displacement, and starvation. Such policies are, at best, wicked and irrational. Today, the world is no longer what it was before; it must restore and uphold human values, protect rights, and respect peoples' sovereignty.
