Why Does the Party Win Every Election?
The Kurds and Iraqis in general witness the success of the Party led by President Masoud Barzani in fulfilling the mission it was founded for, based on trusted and respected personalities, distinguished militants who speak truthfully, act wisely, and master practice. They also witness its possession of trust, respect, credibility, gravitas, and widespread popular support.
This party has always been, and still is, an essential and extremely important necessity, especially since it has managed to formulate comprehensive policies toward the Kurds across the entire region. It bears the heavy and immense responsibility in complex situations filled with interests, interconnectedness, and their impacts on the ground.
Throughout decades of political and armed struggle, it has taken the reins of the Kurds of Kurdistan, providing many services, aid, advice, and guidance for those seeking freedom, peace, and stability in Kurdistan, Iraq, and the region. It has walked through minefields toward a goal that was not easy to reach but long and blood-stained. It has always been a symbol of love, tolerance, dialogue, acceptance of others, and coexistence among nations and religions. It fought against racism and fanaticism in all its forms and distanced itself from incitement, violence, and hatred.
It tried to change the ruling mentalities in Baghdad so that Iraq could belong to all Iraqis, raising the banner of democracy for Iraq and self-rule for Kurdistan. However, these mentalities were unable to respond to its demands and appeals. During its peak of armed struggle, it extended its hand of help, love, and kindness to Iraqis beyond the Kurds, and managed to turn Kurdish villages and towns into refuges and bases for Iraqi free people.
After the March 1991 uprising and its victory in the first parliamentary elections held in the region, it raised the slogan of federalism.
Following the liberation of Iraq in 2003, it worked to establish a democratic, federal parliamentary system in Iraq based on scientific methods, through peaceful and democratic means inspired by the Kurdish liberation movement’s experience, the national heritage, and the enduring struggle of the immortal Barzani. It sought to find appropriate solutions to all outstanding issues between the regional government and the federal government, in accordance with the constitution, and ensured the national, cultural, and administrative rights of Turkmens, Chaldeans, Assyrians, and Armenians. It also aimed to restore all regions annexed from Kurdistan to the Kurdistan Region according to mechanisms outlined in Article 140 of Iraq’s Federal Constitution.
In all elections held in Kurdistan and Iraq, it has always been the first, and its success in the upcoming elections (if held) is expected and certain—both for the Kurds and for others monitoring the region and Iraq. Its long journey, accomplishments rooted in important priorities, experience, diligent work, rising management, numerous services, fighting spirit, and wise approach in dealing with the various ethnicities and religions living on Kurdistan’s land, have earned it trust and the right to lead the region, formulate policies, protect its interests, and defend the rights of Kurds and Iraqis. It motivates the Kurdish voter to choose its representatives and vote for it because it is the only Kurdish party capable of objectively and scientifically exploring possibilities in politics, reconciling reality with ambition, with awareness and clear visions. It activates potentials and capabilities, guiding them safely to the harbor through partnership, consensus, and balance in federal Iraq.
