The eastern countryside of Aleppo is witnessing a cautious calm this morning following a series of clashes and mutual fighting that continued until late last night between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and factions of the Turkish-backed National Army, which used heavy and medium weapons in a new military escalation.
According to local sources, opposition factions targeted SDF positions in the countryside of Muskena with mortar shells, and the SDF responded directly to the source of fire. In the Deir Hafar area, several shells fell on a bridge inside the town, followed by a retaliatory fire from SDF forces.
In the area of Om al-Tina village, intense clashes occurred between the two sides, involving heavy and medium weapons, amidst ongoing escalation along the front lines in the region.
As part of the escalation, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported shelling by Turkish-backed National Army factions on the village of Hobouba, in the Aleppo countryside. They targeted SDF positions in Muskena using tanks, and also shelled the village of Babbouri with mortar shells, in the Muskena area.
SDF responded from inside the sugar factory in Muskena with rocket launchers, resulting in mutual exchange of fire between the two sides. The bombardment left one person dead and six civilians injured, with material damage to several homes and properties due to the missile shells launched by the Syrian Democratic Forces on the village of Kiyarri in eastern Aleppo.
The clashes were accompanied by intense armed confrontations, which resulted in more casualties and injuries, reflecting an escalation of tension in the region.
