Allegations of embezzlement and cronyism against an appointed MP in Al-Shar'’s council
Mr. Al-Alabi has accused an appointed member of Mr. Ahmad Al-Shar’’s council of being involved in embezzlement during his previous work at the “Banafsaj” organization or other organizations before the fall of the regime. Al-Alabi also accused the MP of practicing cronyism by appointing friends and former colleagues who used to work with him at the same organization or at other organizations.
According to Al-Alabi, the allegations focus on the improper transfer or misappropriation of funds during the MP’s past employment, and on a network of appointments that allegedly benefited people close to him after his appointment to the council. The tone of the statements is severe, and their backers are demanding an independent investigation to verify the claims and hold any proven offenders accountable.
The accusations currently rest solely on the claimant’s word, and no independent investigative or administrative authorities have confirmed them so far. Neither the named MP nor the office of Mr. Ahmad Al-Shar’’s council has issued an official clarification in response to these allegations as of the publication date.
Call for transparency: Observers and activists are urging a prompt, impartial investigation to determine the facts and to give all parties an opportunity to respond.
