Media sources have revealed significant information regarding the Syrian political scene, as the announcement of the new Syrian government is scheduled for next Saturday. In a parallel development, the Grand Mufti and the Council of Fatwa are expected to be appointed tomorrow, Friday.

These steps come three months after the sweeping changes Syria has witnessed, during which Syrian authorities approved a constitutional declaration for the transitional phase, setting its duration at five years. During this period, transitional president Ahmed Shar’a will assume executive authority.

Opposition factions, led by Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham, had toppled the previous regime upon entering Damascus on December 8, following an offensive launched from their stronghold in northwestern Syria in late November. The new authorities then announced a caretaker government to manage the country temporarily.

Upon his inauguration as transitional president on January 29, Shar’a pledged to issue a "constitutional declaration" for the transitional phase. This would include forming a "preparatory committee to select a small legislative council" and dissolving the previous council.

These developments raise many questions about Syria's future and the nature of the anticipated political changes. Observers and Syrians alike are eagerly awaiting further details on the upcoming announcements, which could shape the next phase.

Amid tensions and anticipation, the new government faces major challenges, given the accumulated crises and the complex internal and external challenges confronting the country.
