Armed Attack Claims the Lives of Two Judges in Tehran

This Saturday morning, the Iranian capital, Tehran, woke up to a horrific incident, as two judges were killed in front of the Supreme Court.
Details indicate that three judges from the Supreme Court were attacked with live gunfire, resulting in the deaths of judges Mohammad Mogheiseh and Ali Razini, while the third judge, Miri, sustained injuries. According to the Fars News Agency, the attacker committed suicide after carrying out his crime.
The incident occurred in front of the Justice Palace in Arak Square, where the shooter fired directly at the judges. Authorities have launched an immediate investigation into the incident to determine the attacker's motives and the background related to the assault, but no group has claimed responsibility for the attack thus far.
Complicating the situation is the fact that Judge Mohammad Mogheiseh, one of the deceased, held the position of head of Branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court and is considered a controversial figure within the Iranian judiciary. He played a prominent role in the trials of political opponents, especially during the protests that followed the 2009 presidential elections.
Mogheiseh issued several harsh sentences, including death penalties and long prison terms against political activists, journalists, and members of religious minorities. He has also faced international sanctions from the European Union, the United States, and Canada due to his role in human rights violations and the issuance of what were deemed unfair verdicts.
Questions are being raised about the true motives behind this attack at a time when the Iranian regime is facing increasing political and social challenges.
