Continued Closure of the Al-Karama Crossing for Cargo Transport After Shooting Incident
استمرار إغلاق معبر الكرامة لنقل البضائع بعد حادثة إطلاق النار

The Al-Karama Crossing (Allenby Bridge) remains fully closed to cargo movement indefinitely following the shooting incident targeting Israelis last Thursday. This decision has led to a complete halt in the flow of goods and humanitarian aid, sparking widespread resentment among local and international circles, particularly among humanitarian and relief organizations.

International relief organizations expressed deep concern over this closure, considering it a significant obstacle to delivering urgent assistance to the residents of Gaza, who are facing deteriorating humanitarian conditions. These organizations emphasized that ongoing blockade and the restriction of essential goods exacerbate civilian suffering, especially amid a severe shortage of food, medicine, and basic living necessities.

Human rights groups have warned of the humanitarian repercussions of the closure, pointing out that it may worsen the ongoing crisis and impact thousands of families relying daily on humanitarian aid. They called for humanitarian aid to be kept separate from political or security tensions and ensured to pass freely to civilians.

It is worth noting that the Al-Karama Crossing is the main commercial gateway between the West Bank and Jordan, and a vital artery for transporting goods into Palestinian territories, including Gaza through other crossings. Due to the closure, commercial trucks have halted operations, threatening vital supply disruptions and rising prices in local markets.

Amid these developments, international calls continue for the urgent reopening of the crossing and facilitating the passage of humanitarian aid, in order to prevent a looming humanitarian catastrophe that could intensify over time.
