The leader of the Druze Monotheistic sect in Syria, Sheikh Hikmat Al-Hajri, appealed on Saturday for the cessation of military operations on the Syrian coast.
Al-Hajri affirmed his rejection of "systematic killing," and demanded "all concerned parties to immediately stop these unjustified military operations against innocent civilians”.
Al-Hajri urged "everyone to resort to the law and religious principles that prohibit the killing of innocents and civilians," explaining that "the guilty should be held accountable under the umbrella of law, judiciary, and justice, away from the language of violence and revenge”.
The statement added: "We place responsibility before the guarantor countries for all parties to take immediate measures by all means to stop this tragedy immediately”.
The statement continued that "the fires burning under sectarian slogans will burn all of Syria and its people.. therefore, we ask the rational individuals from all parties to intervene to stop bloodshed immediately, and avoid the country sliding into an abyss with dire consequences. Let disagreements be at dialogue tables, not battlefields and killing of innocents”.
Al-Hajri called on "everyone to stop the systematic incitement campaigns that have not ceased since the fall of the defunct regime," adding that "we should not be an image of the regime of killing and criminality, but rather advocates of love and peace”.
