Due to his deteriorating health... Release of Brigadier Nibhan Sebahi
العميد السابق في قوات النظام البائد نبهان سباهي

Official state media announced the release of Brigadier Nibhan Sebahi, head of the State Security branch in Idlib and founder of the Trameeh militia and Popular Committees in the Qamhana area. He is considered one of the most prominent figures of the Syrian regime in Hama and Idlib during Hafez al-Assad's era. Sebahi is known for playing a key role in suppressing popular protests before joining the ranks of the Shabiha and armed groups supporting Assad’s regime during the Syrian revolution.

According to reports, the decision to release him was due to a sharp deterioration in his health, as he suffers from long-term hemiplegia and spent around 20 days in intensive care for treatment and medical monitoring. Media sources quoted close associates as saying that, despite his severe health condition, the release carries humanitarian considerations, especially in light of his worsening health.

It is worth noting that Nibhan Sebahi was associated with security control in conflict areas and is considered a symbol of brutal repression. He is linked to the consolidation of regime influence in areas that witnessed protests and resistance, before being pursued and detained for reasons that remain unclear.

No official statement has been issued by the Syrian regime regarding the timing of the release or details of Brigadier Sebahi’s health condition, which remains delicate according to reports. There is a divergence among rights and security circles about the reasons and motives behind the release, which may be humanitarian or related to political balances within the regime.
