Egyptian Aid Trucks Begin Entering Gaza Amid “Humanitarian Ceasefires” and Israeli Tactical Pause

Egyptian media reported on Sunday the commencement of aid truck entry into the Gaza Strip through the Rafah border crossing, coinciding with an Israeli army announcement of a "tactical" pause in military operations in parts of the territory to facilitate humanitarian aid distribution to Palestinians.

Al-Qahera News, a channel close to the Egyptian authorities, confirmed that aid convoys had begun crossing into Gaza, stating that the trucks were carrying food supplies and materials to help restore damaged infrastructure caused by ongoing hostilities.

The channel also posted on its social media platforms footage showing several Egyptian trucks at the Gaza border, indicating the start of the aid delivery process.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army announced the resumption of aerial aid drops over northern Gaza on Saturday night, in cooperation with foreign countries. The military statement noted that the initial drops included seven shipments containing flour, sugar, and canned food provided by international organizations.

The army emphasized that the responsibility for distributing this aid falls to the United Nations and international relief agencies, urging these organizations to improve the efficiency of distribution and ensure that the aid does not reach Hamas.

As part of what it described as "ongoing humanitarian efforts," the Israeli army also announced the designation of safe corridors to allow UN and international organization convoys to deliver food and medicine. However, the statement did not specify when or where these corridors would be opened.

These developments come amid growing international criticism of Israel, including from close allies, following the deaths of hundreds of Palestinians in recent weeks—either due to starvation or while attempting to reach aid supplies.
