New Israeli Incursions in Quneitra Countryside Amid Escalating Violations in Southern Syria

On Sunday, Israeli occupation forces carried out a new ground incursion into the village of Saida al-Hanout in the Quneitra countryside, marking a continued escalation of violations in southern Syria.
According to the "Ahrar Houran Gathering," the incursion was carried out by an Israeli force consisting of two military vehicles. The reasons behind the operation remain unclear, and no arrests were reported at the time of this report.
This latest incursion adds to a growing pattern of Israeli military activity in the region. Just days earlier, on Wednesday, Israeli forces advanced toward the village of al-Halabi in the central Quneitra countryside, where they set up a temporary military checkpoint on the main road near the village entrance and deployed troops around a former Syrian regime military post.
Following the collapse of the Assad regime on December 8, Israeli forces have significantly intensified their operations in Syria, launching hundreds of airstrikes on Syrian military positions. These attacks aim to destroy infrastructure and prevent its rehabilitation.
In tandem with the airstrikes, Israeli ground incursions have taken place across rural Damascus, Quneitra, and Daraa. The occupation forces first took control of the buffer zone and then began conducting raids in border regions.
At the end of last month, Israeli soldiers opened fire on two young men from the village of Sa’soun in western Daraa countryside, injuring them moderately before arresting and transferring them into occupied territory.
These developments raise growing concerns about the widening scope of Israeli violations in southern Syria, amid international silence and the evident retreat of the Syrian regime’s role in protecting national borders.
