Entry of General Security Forces into the City of Sahnaya After Bloody Clashes

Syrian General Security forces entered the city of Sahnaya, located 5 kilometers south of the capital, Damascus, early Wednesday morning following clashes between groups from Deir ez-Zor province and armed members of the Druze community.
Local residents reported that a convoy of about 30 vehicles, mostly pickup trucks carrying General Security personnel, entered the city after a dispute escalated into gunfire between the involved parties.
Residents stated that the city experienced heavy gunfire, with reports of casualties and injuries on both sides. The exchange of fire diminished after the deployment of General Security forces, who bolstered their presence in most neighborhoods of the city.
Sahnaya is a densely populated city, with a population of over 700,000, housing a mix of Druze, Christians, and residents from Horan, along with some individuals from Deir ez-Zor province and other areas. Despite its proximity to the city of Daraya, Sahnaya was one of the regions that did not experience armed confrontations during the years of the Syrian conflict.
