Escalation in Northwestern Syria: Child Killed and Civilians Injured Amid Ongoing Bombardments

Today, Wednesday, a girl was killed, and several students and teachers were injured due to shelling by Syrian government forces on Idlib and a school in the countryside of Aleppo in northwestern Syria.
A correspondent for Syria TV reported that artillery and rocket fire from the Syrian government targeted the village of Ma'rablit in Jabal al-Arba'in, southern Idlib, resulting in the death of the girl.
The Syrian Civil Defense stated in a post: "Five-year-old Jana passed away today, without a farewell to her family or friends in the neighborhood. Her dreams were stolen by the regime’s shells in an artillery attack that hit her family home between the villages of Ma'rablit and Ma'arrzaf in southern Idlib today, Wednesday."
Additionally, rocket attacks from areas controlled by the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) targeted a school and a health clinic in the village of Mohsenli in the countryside of Jarabulus, as well as a residential house nearby, resulting in six civilian injuries, including four school students, their teacher, and a woman.
Russian warplanes conducted five airstrikes on the Kabina front in the countryside of Latakia, one strike west of Idlib province, another on the Basnqal forest in the province, one on the Jozef forest, and one near the town of al-Bara in Jabal al-Zawiya.
The Syrian government forces and Russia have continued their escalation in northwestern Syria for the third consecutive day, with a "systematic" bombardment of artillery shells and rockets hitting several villages and towns near the contact areas in the Idlib and Aleppo countrysides this Wednesday morning, according to the Civil Defense.
In addition, Syrian government forces targeted the village of Kafr Taal in western Aleppo with artillery and rockets, causing only material damage.
Raed al-Salah, the head of the Civil Defense, tweeted: "Since the early hours of this Wednesday, October 16, the Syrian government and Russia have continued to bombard villages and towns in the Idlib and Aleppo countryside using various types of weaponry, causing the death of a girl in the village of Ma'arrzaf in southern Idlib and injuring several students and educational staff in a school in the village of Mohsenli in the eastern Aleppo countryside. Dozens of villages and towns have been subjected to shelling by the Syrian government and Russia. This dangerous escalation poses a significant threat to the lives of more than 5 million civilians in northwestern Syria and is prompting a wave of displacement from villages and towns adjacent to areas controlled by government forces. The international community must take immediate and urgent action to stop the crimes of the Assad regime and Russia to prevent the worsening of the humanitarian crisis experienced by civilians in northwestern Syria for over 13 years of war."
