European Message to the Syrian Administration: No Blank Check
رسالة أوروبية إلى الإدارة السورية: الدعم قد يتبخر

European countries have expressed their concerns regarding the current events in Syria, emphasizing the necessity of controlling the situation and curbing the activities of militant extremists as a top priority to steer the country in the right direction.

Reuters news agency revealed that a message was recently delivered by three European envoys to Syrian Foreign Minister Assad al-Shibani. The message warns that international support for the new Syrian administration may dwindle unless decisive actions are taken in this regard.

One of the European envoys demanded the purging of security forces from those involved in the massacres in the Syrian coast. A spokesperson for the French Foreign Ministry affirmed that the actions that occurred along the Syrian coast cannot be tolerated, urging the Syrian government to identify the perpetrators of these acts and hold them accountable.

It is noteworthy that this is not the first European message in this context, as the United States has previously called for accountability for those responsible for such attacks.

The new Syrian administration faces a significant challenge, as diplomatic sources indicate that Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham, which was recently dismantled, consisted of approximately 20,000 militants only, forcing the authorities to rely on thousands of other fighters, including foreign elements and extremist factions.

Sources add that taking action against these militants could risk returning Syria to the cycle of war once again, further complicating the situation on the Syrian ground.
