Former Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham Commander Assassinated Inside His Home in Idlib Countryside
A former commander of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham was killed today inside his home in the city of Kafr Takharim, northern Idlib, in a new assassination that adds to a series of killings reported in the area.
Local sources said that the man known as “Abu Mohammad al-Irani” was found dead inside his home after an unidentified visitor allegedly opened fire on him while they were having breakfast, before fleeing to an unknown destination.
The identity of the attacker and the motive behind the killing remain unknown. No official statement has yet been issued regarding the circumstances of the incident.
The assassination comes amid a rise in killings and targeted attacks across northwestern Syria, raising concerns over the continued deterioration of security and the escalation of attacks against former figures and commanders.
