Sources familiar with the matter told CNN that Hammam Al-Hamami was dismissed from his job at Oman Air last year amid concerns related to his extremist views.

According to information reported by the network, Al-Hamami was born in the UAE to an Omani father and a Syrian mother and lived there for several years. A LinkedIn profile attributed to him indicates that he worked for Oman Air for seven years before leaving in February 2025. The profile also says he joined Royal Air Maroc in June of that year and left in January 2026, but makes no reference to employment with flydubai.

Authorities have yet to announce the final findings of the investigation into Al-Hamami’s background and motives. Following the incident, he was transferred from Saudi Arabia to the UAE accompanied by an Emirati security team, where Emirati authorities are conducting the investigation, according to the information provided.
