International Coalition Conducts a Raiding Operation in Idlib and Arrests Suspects

On the morning of Wednesday, August 20, the international coalition fighting the Islamic State (ISIS) carried out a joint air assault with Syrian government forces in the Atma area of Idlib countryside in northwestern Syria. A local correspondent from Enab Baladi reported that the operation started around 2:30 a.m. and lasted approximately two hours, resulting in the killing of an ISIS leader of Iraqi nationality.
The operation also resulted in the arrest of five individuals, who were handed over to the Internal Security Forces in the Atma area. It is noted that the region has experienced relative stability in security situations over the past few months, with the Internal Security Forces controlling the entire area, according to local sources.
No official statements have been issued yet by the Syrian Ministry of Interior or the Central Command of the coalition regarding the details or background of the operation. This operation is part of ongoing efforts to track ISIS cells in northern Syria and to strengthen security and stability in the region.
