Israeli Airstrikes in the Countryside of Sweida

Warplanes, likely Israeli, launched an attack on the Khalkhala military airport in northern Sweida, leading to the rise of smoke columns in the vicinity. So far, there have been no reports of casualties or material damage resulting from this bombardment.
As part of the escalation, Israeli aircraft also targeted the Sa'sa area in rural Damascus with multiple airstrikes. Military sites belonging to the former regime were bombed, including the 10th Division in Sa'sa and the 5th and 9th Divisions in rural Dara, with no information available yet on casualties or the extent of the damage.
On the ground, an Israeli military force consisting of several vehicles infiltrated the village of Maariyah within the Yarmouk Basin area west of Dara, with no information available about their withdrawal.
According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, Israel has conducted 23 targeting operations on Syrian territory since the beginning of 2025, including 21 airstrikes and two ground operations. These strikes resulted in the injury and destruction of approximately 22 targets, including weapons and ammunition depots, military headquarters, and vehicles.
These strikes led to the death of 6 individuals, including 4 from the military operations management, and injured another, along with the martyrdom of two civilians, and two others of unknown identity from Lebanese nationality.
The airstrikes were distributed as follows:
- 7 strikes in Aleppo
- 8 strikes in rural Damascus, resulting in the martyrdom of civilians, two unknown individuals of Lebanese nationality, and two military personnel
- 3 strikes in Sweida, one of which was targeted with 4 strikes
- 2 in rural Homs, one targeting the Syrian-Lebanese border
- 3 in rural Quneitra, resulting in the martyrdom of one civilian and two from military operations management, with another injured
- 4 in Dara
- 1 in Tartus
As for the ground attacks, they were distributed as follows:
- 1 in rural Dara
- 1 in rural Damascus
The observatory indicates that Israel may target more than one governorate in a single raid, which explains the discrepancy between the number of airstrikes and the number of targets.
Since the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime on December 8, 2024, until the end of the year, Israeli aircraft conducted approximately 500 airstrikes on Syrian military sites, leading to the destruction of most of the Syrian weapon arsenal.
