Israeli Army Begins Ground Operation in Gaza

The Israeli army announced on Thursday the commencement of a specific military ground operation in central and southern Gaza. The army indicated that the aim of this operation is to "expand the defensive area between the north and south of the Gaza Strip."
The Israeli army also decided to impose restrictions on the movement of residents in the Gaza Strip, prohibiting transit on Salah al-Din axis between the north and south, allowing only passage through the Al-Rashid road.
In this context, the Israeli newspaper "Yedioth Ahronoth" reported that the army intends to establish an additional checkpoint in the Netzarim area, which connects southern and northern Gaza.
Israel resumed its military operations in Gaza early Tuesday after refusing to participate in the second phase of the ceasefire agreement. Since then, Israeli airstrikes have resulted in the deaths of hundreds of Palestinians in attacks that targeted various areas of the Strip.
The Civil Defense in Gaza reported at least 10 deaths and dozens of injuries as a result of the airstrikes that targeted homes in the southern Gaza Strip early Thursday.
