Israeli Deputy Reveals "Al-Shar'ah's" Meetings with Israeli Officials in the UAE

In a controversial statement, Akram Hasson, the former Druze Israeli deputy in the Knesset, revealed that "Ahmed al-Shar'ah," the leader of the transitional phase and head of "Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham," met with Israeli officials in the United Arab Emirates.
This meeting comes as part of "al-Shar'ah's" efforts to discuss peace issues in the region, which has garnered significant interest in political and media circles.
Hasson, regarded as one of the prominent figures in the Druze community in Israel, pointed out that the meetings between "al-Shar'ah" and Israeli officials reflect an unexpected rapprochement in relations between certain Syrian factions and Israel.
He explained that discussions during these meetings focused on possible ways to achieve comprehensive peace, emphasizing the necessity of stability in the region.
Although Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham is considered an extremist entity by many international assessments, Hasson believes that the move towards dialogue might have positive effects on peace processes in Syria. He added that "Ahmed al-Shar'ah" aims to achieve his goals by taking advantage of the changing geopolitical conditions in the Middle East.
The visit by the transitional phase leader to the UAE holds particular importance amid the existing tensions in the region, as the UAE is considered one of the countries striving to strengthen relations with Israel following the normalization agreements established in 2020. This reflects a shift in political dynamics in the Middle East and suggests that some Syrian factions may pursue new strategies that align with the changing regional reality.
In this context, observers agree that such meetings could contribute to shaping a new political landscape that allows Syrian factions to engage in dialogue with Israel in an attempt to achieve common interests. However, at the same time, there are still many difficulties and challenges facing the realization of sustainable peace, especially with multiple powers competing for influence in Syria.
Regarding reactions to this topic, opinions have been mixed between supporters and opponents. Some believe that this type of communication could open new avenues for peace, while others view "al-Shar'ah's" reliance on dialogue with Israel as raising doubts about his true intentions and casting questions on his positions regarding the ongoing conflict in his country.
