Military Operations Command Refuses to Conduct Reconciliation in Qardaha Without Surrendering Weapons

The Military Operations Command has issued a decision to suspend the reception of citizens in Qardaha, a town in the Latakia countryside, for reconciliation processes unless they surrender their weapons. This decision has sparked a wave of anger and frustration among local residents who were counting on reconciliations as a means to improve their security situation, especially since many of them had discarded or abandoned their weapons in the streets.
It is worth noting that the Military Operations Command has facilitated reconciliations for tens of thousands of citizens in areas that have witnessed security campaigns following the fall of Bashar Al-Assad, covering all provinces with the aim of enhancing security and ensuring stability in regions suffering from ongoing tensions. In the city of Salamiya in the Hama countryside, the status of around 8,000 individuals was reconciled in just nine days.
Following the fall of the regime, the Military Operations Command initiated the opening of special reconciliation centers for citizens, aiming to collect unregistered weapons and pursue individuals who refuse reconciliation and are suspected of being linked to the former regime. The command has warned of strict measures against anyone who refuses to surrender their weapons or is found in possession of arms.
In Quneitra, the reconciliation center refused to process reconciliations for approximately 600 members of the former regime's forces due to their lack of weapons. Sources from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights confirmed that these individuals left their weapons at their positions in Daraa and southern Syria, fleeing to their homes during the advance of the Military Operations Command and the collapse of regime forces.
The reconciliation centers require citizens to pay a fine of $100 or to purchase individual weapons to submit to the center as a condition to complete their reconciliation process. These developments present additional challenges for residents seeking to achieve security and stability under the current circumstances.
