Moroccan King Mohammed VI Issues Royal Pardon for Detained Journalists

On Monday, King Mohammed VI of Morocco issued a royal pardon that included several detained journalists. Among those pardoned are Tawfiq Bouachrine, editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Akhbar Al-Youm," as well as journalists Omar Radi and Soulaimane Raissouni. Additionally, bloggers Reda Taoujni and Youssef Al-Hirsh were also granted pardons.

These journalists had previously received sentences of up to 15 years for charges including human trafficking, rape, and dealing with foreign entities. The royal pardon was issued on the occasion of Throne Day, which this year commemorates the 25th anniversary of King Mohammed VI's inauguration.

This move reflects a significant gesture by the Moroccan monarchy, highlighting the importance of Throne Day in celebrating milestones and fostering reconciliation.

Aimed at secondary school students, the event brought together a distinguished group of academic professionals and technology experts to mentor and inspire young participants.
More than 100 high school students from across the Kingdom of Bahrain took part in the hackathon, which featured an intensive programme of training workshops and hands-on sessions. These activities were tailored to enhance participants’ critical thinking, collaborative problem-solving, and team-building capabilities, while also encouraging the development of practical and sustainable solutions to contemporary challenges using modern technological tools.
