Nasib Border Crossing with Jordan Closed Amid Security Developments in Daraa
The Syrian General Authority for Ports and Customs announced on Tuesday, October 27, the closure of the Nasib border crossing with Jordan, citing security developments in Daraa Governorate.
The crossing is one of the main land gateways between the two countries. It handles passenger and commercial traffic, and serves trucks traveling to Jordanian markets and other regional destinations.
The death toll from Jordanian airstrikes on sites in the countryside of Daraa Governorate in southern Syria on Monday rose to seven, including three children and a woman, according to the Syrian state news agency SANA, citing Daraa Health Director Khaled al-Amian.
The airstrikes targeted sites in the al-Tuf area of al-Mismiyah, as well as areas near the towns of Nasib and al-Muzayrib in the Daraa countryside, SANA reported.
No confirmed information was available on when the crossing would reopen. A prolonged closure could delay the movement of goods and increase shipping costs, depending on how long it remains closed and the volume of traffic affected.
