Kuwait's Nationality Investigation Department has uncovered a serious forgery case involving approximately 70 people who obtained Kuwaiti citizenship by dependency, after 5 Syrians were illegally added to the files of 3 Kuwaiti citizens.

Informed sources told "Al-Rai" newspaper that investigations, which continued for months, revealed the involvement of 4 Syrian siblings, including one woman, plus a fifth brother who is currently in hiding, in an organized forgery operation targeting the files of deceased Kuwaiti citizens.

The sources indicated that the Syrian woman involved in the case married a Syrian citizen and had 3 children with him, then obtained Kuwaiti citizenship along with her children after her name was fraudulently added to a Kuwaiti citizen's file.

Investigations showed that the forgery operations extended to before the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, with two files being manipulated before the invasion and the third after it, taking advantage of the death of the original Kuwaiti file holders.

The case grew more complex over the years as the five perpetrators had children and grandchildren who all obtained Kuwaiti citizenship by dependency, bringing their total number to approximately 70 people.

The case file has been transferred from the Nationality Investigation Department to the competent authorities for necessary legal action, as part of the ongoing campaign to review and verify citizenship files in Kuwait.

This case adds to a series of similar cases discovered recently, confirming the need to tighten control over naturalization processes and carefully review old files.
