Colonel Mohammed Abdul Ghani, Director of General Security Administration in Aleppo Governorate in northern Syria, announced the restoration of control over a prison in northern rural Aleppo following a mutiny carried out by a group of prisoners, under circumstances surrounded by doubts and questions.

Colonel Abdul Ghani said in statements reported by the Ministry of Interior through its Telegram channel: "This morning we received a report about a mutiny inside one of the prisons in northern rural Aleppo, where a number of prisoners breached the prison walls and took control of it for a period of time."

He added that the prisoners seized weapons and kidnapped a number of personnel present inside the prison, in a scenario similar to previous incidents the region has witnessed that ended with the escape of dangerous prisoners.

He claimed that a force from the security agencies immediately headed to the prison where, according to his account, control was restored and some prisoners were arrested, while others managed to escape under mysterious circumstances that raise suspicions about the possibility of internal complicity.

The official emphasized the continuation of search and pursuit operations until the fugitives are arrested and referred to the competent judiciary to receive their just punishment, without providing details about the security measures taken.

Colonel Mohammed Abdul Ghani indicated that the prison was not under the administration of the Prison Department in the Ministry of Interior, which raises serious questions about the identity of the supervising authority and the nature of the prisoners detained there, and the possibility of financial arrangements that facilitated the escape operation, especially in light of documented previous similar cases involving prison guards smuggling detainees after receiving financial ransoms.
