Israel Targets Sources of Iranian Power... High-Ranking Iranian Leaders Killed

Iranian official television reported on Saturday that two prominent Iranian generals were killed during recent Israeli strikes, as Israel continues to target Iran's military and nuclear capabilities in an unprecedented escalation. The television stated that Lieutenant General (Gholamreza Mehri), head of intelligence at the Iranian General Staff, and Lieutenant General (Mahdi Rabani), Deputy Head of Operations at the same body, were killed in the strikes.
In the same context, Iranian TV reported that 60 people were killed, including 20 children, as a result of an Israeli bombing targeting a residential building in Tehran last evening. The report confirmed that rescue operations are ongoing, with ten victims' bodies already recovered, debris cleared, and rescue efforts underway.
Israel began early Friday, June 13, executing a series of extensive and unprecedented airstrikes on targets within Iranian territory. The strikes targeted nuclear facilities, ballistic missile factories, military leaders, and prominent nuclear scientists, as part of a operation called "Rising Lion."
In response to these attacks, Iran launched massive missile waves at several targets late Friday and into Saturday morning, marking an escalation of tensions between the two sides.
In a notable development, the Israeli army announced on Saturday that it had carried out strikes on dozens of missile launch platforms in Iran, after targeting air defense systems in the Tehran area overnight. The army stated in a communiqué that its aircraft targeted "dozens of targets, including land-to-air missile infrastructure, in an attempt to weaken Tehran's air defense capabilities."
The statement indicated that these strikes "occurred more than 1,500 kilometers from Israeli territory, marking the first time since the war began that the Israeli Air Force attacked defensive formations in the Tehran region." Israeli Air Force Commander, General Tomer Bar, emphasized that the nighttime strikes have operational and national significance, stating, "We inflicted significant damage, and we will continue targeting strategic sites and sources of enemy knowledge."
He added, "Such operations require precise cooperation and coordination among various capabilities and resources within the Air Force," expressing Israel's determination to continue striking strategic targets deep within Iran in response to ongoing escalation threats.
