Israel Conducts Unprecedented Military Operation Deep Inside Syrian Territory
الجيش الإسرائيلي

The Israeli Defense Forces carried out an unprecedented military operation deep within Syrian territory, resulting in the death of one person and the detention of others, marking an unusual escalation along the Syria border. Syrian news reported that an Israeli patrol stormed the town of Beit Jinn, west of Damascus, which is about 20 kilometers inside Syrian land from the south, leading to the death of a young man and the arrest of seven others.

Local sources identified the slain individual as Ahmed Mohammed Hamada, and it is believed that one of the detainees is his uncle, Qasim Hamada. The sources estimated that the raid involved around 100 troops supported by several armored vehicles and military equipment, with Israeli aircraft flying over the area.

In the same context, the Israeli Army Radio reported that forces from the Alexanderoni Reserve Brigade completed an operation in Beit Jinn village, without providing further details. Meanwhile, Reuters cited sources stating that Israel has detained Hamas members in Syria.

With this operation, Israel has for the first time since the fall of Assad's regime about seven months ago entered 20 kilometers into Syrian territory. This follows a series of airstrikes targeting Syrian military sites, claiming to be targeting weapons that threaten its national security, in addition to violating the 1974 ceasefire agreement on the Golan Heights. Israel has occupied new territories within the buffer zone, which it has not yet relinquished.
