Official Clarification from the Umayyad Mosque Regarding the Vehicle Video

The administration of the Great Umayyad Mosque in Damascus issued an official statement in response to a video circulating on social media showing a car driving in the mosque’s courtyard, which sparked widespread controversy. The management affirmed that vehicle entry into the mosque’s courtyards is limited to necessities and work-related purposes only, and requires prior approval. This rule applies to everyone without exception, including officials.
They clarified that the individual appearing in the video had requested a large number of copies of the Holy Qurans and was permitted to enter temporarily by car to transport them due to a shortage of workers. After completing the task, he left based on the granted permission.
The administration expressed their surprise and disapproval of this person filming the clip in a provocative manner and publishing it, emphasizing that such behavior does not reflect the true image nor is it befitting the sanctity of Allah’s houses.
In conclusion, they called for careful verification and avoiding actions that provoke confusion, reaffirming their ongoing commitment to serving Allah's houses and their visitors.
