Protests Intensify in Latakia Demanding Clarity on the Fate of Child Mohammad Haider

A protest sit-in was held in the Al-Mashrou' Al-A‘shar neighborhood in Latakia, involving several residents, to express their anger and demand answers about the fate of the child Mohammad Haider, who was kidnapped three days ago in broad daylight in front of the Jamal Dawood School. The child's family has been suffering since the incident, with available information limited to the absence of any guidance or details regarding his whereabouts or the identity of the perpetrators. The authorities remain unable to identify the kidnappers or locate the child.
Four armed men in a blue Santafe vehicle intercepted the main road while the child was on his way to school, kidnapping him in front of witnesses and students. No one was able to intervene or rescue the child. The child is from the Al-Mashrou' Al-A‘shar neighborhood, and his family is going through a period of ongoing grief and anxiety.
Amid repeated incidents of kidnapping, killing, and the prevailing security chaos in the Syrian coast areas, residents have expressed deep frustration and increasing concern for the safety of their children. In this context, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reiterates its call for the relevant authorities to urgently take action and reveal the whereabouts of Mohammad Haider. It also emphasizes the need to ensure a safe environment for students and teachers and to put an end to the security deterioration that threatens residents' lives and regional stability.
