Repeated Israeli Incursions in Quneitra and Daraa Countryside and Temporary Arrest of a Young Man
On Sunday morning, Israeli forces carried out an incursion into the village of al-Samdaniya al-Gharbiya in central Quneitra countryside, sweeping and searching the surrounding agricultural lands, following an earlier movement in al-Samdaniya al-Sharqiya involving tanks and several military vehicles loaded with soldiers.
In a separate incident on Saturday evening, an Israeli force composed of three armored vehicles entered the outskirts of the village of Ma‘riya in the Yarmouk Basin area of western Daraa countryside, accompanied by on-the-ground movements in the area. The incursion coincided with intensive Israeli reconnaissance plane flights, raising tension among residents. During the advance, the forces detained a young man from Ma‘riya, then withdrew and released him on the morning of the following day, without clarifying the reasons for the arrest.
This came amid ongoing Israeli incursions and military movements in the countrysides of Daraa and Quneitra, which periodically see vehicles and forces entering a number of border villages and towns in southern Syria. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported yesterday an Israeli incursion in the al-Mantara Dam area in northwestern Quneitra countryside, near al-Samdaniya al-Gharbiya, with UN Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) personnel observed close to the site.
