Russia adds rapper Oxxxymiron, writer Glukhovsky to list of foreign agents

The Russian Justice Ministry added famous rapper Miron Fedorov, also known as Oxxxymiron, and author Dmitry Glukhovsky to the list of foreign agents, media reports said Friday (Oct 7).

Profile.ru news outlet said Fedorov was added to the list of individual foreign agents for his political activity which was funded by Ukraine, citing the ministry.

Glukhovsky was included on the list of media outlets acting as foreign agents by the ministry.

The outlet highlighted that Glukhovsky and Fedorov have been among vocal critics of the ongoing Russian war against Ukraine.

Oxxxymiron was born on 31 of January 1985 in Leningrad.

He is one of the most influential and prominent hip-hop performers in Russia. His albums The Wandering Jew and Gorgorod are considered by the community as the most important releases of Russian rap.

In reaction to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, Oxxxymiron called for an anti-war movement, stating, "I know that most people in Russia are against this war, and I am confident that the more people would talk about their real attitude to it, the faster we can stop this horror."

He cancelled six sold-out concerts in Moscow and St. Petersburg, stating, "I cannot entertain you when Russian missiles are falling on Ukraine. When residents of Kyiv are forced to hide in basements and in the metro, while people are dying."

He later said that it was impossible to hold an anti-war concert in Russia because "total censorship has been implemented, and anyone who speaks out against the war in any way becomes a potential target for criminal prosecution.

Dmitry Glukhovsky is a Russian author and journalist best known for the science fiction novel Metro 2033 and its sequels.

As a journalist, Dmitry Glukhovsky has worked for Euronews, RT in its early years, and others. Aside from his native Moscow, Glukhovsky has also lived in Israel, Germany, and France.

In 2022, he was put on the Russian federal wanted list for his criticism of the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine.
