Shocking Confessions: Former Regime State Security Chief in Deir ez-Zor Accused of Abuses
The Syrian Ministry of Justice has published excerpts from the confessions of Daas Hassan Ali, who served as head of the State Security branch in Deir ez-Zor under the former regime. The confessions form part of cases and allegations related to abuses and crimes allegedly committed during his tenure.
According to the ministry, the confessions include information about practices and procedures carried out against civilians and detainees, as well as accounts connected to security and judicial files currently under investigation.
The ministry stated that publishing the confessions is part of its efforts to uncover the circumstances surrounding the abuses and document the testimonies of those involved and affected, ahead of completing legal proceedings against those responsible for the alleged crimes, in accordance with applicable laws and relevant standards.
