Syrian Artists Express Shock Over the Bloody Events in the Coastal Region

Amid the escalating military action and violent clashes that have taken place in several areas of the Syrian coast in recent days, Syrian actress Noor Ali appeared in a video on Instagram, expressing her shock over the events in the city of Jableh, located in the Latakia governorate.

In the video, shared via Instagram Story, Noor appeared deeply affected, stating that from the moment the events unfolded, she had hoped the authorities would take strict action against anyone carrying weapons for unlawful purposes.

She added that some of the armed individuals, whom she described as “foreigners, Chechens, and Takfiris,” had stormed residential neighborhoods before public security forces took control of Jableh, resulting in casualties among civilians. Noor also revealed that she was personally shot at while trying to prevent an armed assailant from stealing her car. However, she was able to contact the security forces, who intervened immediately.

Noor emphasized that people from all religious backgrounds in the region were affected by the events, calling for the rejection of sectarianism and stressing the importance of unity among Syrians under the slogan “We are one country’s children.” She also pointed out that Alawites, in the past, were unable to condemn the attacks on opposition areas due to fear of persecution, but now, she calls on everyone to unite and put aside differences.

In a similar vein, Syrian actor Jihad Abdo, in a video posted on Facebook, called for a fair investigation to uncover those involved in the violations committed against civilians, stressing the importance of de-escalation amid the tense situation.

As for singer Assala Nasri, who has been known for her opposition stances since 2011, she expressed her concern on her X (formerly Twitter) account, writing, “It’s unbelievable what is happening,” calling for an immediate end to the violence and bloodshed.

Actor Mazen Al-Nator, in a subtle reference, spoke about what he called "the remnants of the regime," suggesting the need to confront them.

Meanwhile, actress Aliya Said criticized the denial of violations in the coastal region, confirming in a video that the same official authorities acknowledged the abuses, and that attempts to cover up the truth would not change the reality.

Actress Yara Sabry participated in a silent protest in the Marjeh Square in Damascus to mourn the souls of the public security and civilian victims in the Syrian coast.

In a Facebook post, Yara warned against the spread of misleading news, clarifying that the protestors carried banners mourning the public security forces who died in the recent clashes. They also called for keeping civilians out of military operations and holding those responsible for the violations accountable.

She completely denied the rumors about banners comparing President Ahmad al-Shara with former President Bashar al-Assad, urging caution regarding false reports.

She added that the protest ended after verbal clashes and pushing occurred when a group of young people began chanting sectarian slogans, which led to a physical altercation before public security forces intervened to end the scuffle.
