Syrian Interior Ministry Responds to Al-Suwayda Hospital Incident

The Syrian Ministry of Interior issued an official statement today, Monday, regarding the widely circulated video clip that has sparked intense controversy in recent hours. The video depicts a killing inside the National Hospital in Al-Suwayda during the events that took place in the city last month.
The footage, recorded by surveillance cameras on July 16, shows an armed individual believed to be from security forces firing at a volunteer paramedic after a brief altercation. The paramedic's body is then pulled away, while a number of hospital staff are seen kneeling in the corridor.
The ministry described the scene as "disturbing" and strongly condemned the incident. It pledged to hold those responsible accountable and bring them to justice, regardless of their affiliations, to ensure justice is served.
Furthermore, the ministry stated that Major General Abdul-Qader Al-Tahwan, Assistant to the Security Affairs, has been assigned to oversee the investigation directly to ensure a swift identification and arrest of the perpetrators.
These developments come amid escalating violent events that took place in Al-Suwayda province on July 13, involving clashes between Druze fighters and Bedouin tribes. The conflict lasted several days and resulted in the displacement of approximately 200,000 people, according to United Nations estimates.
