Syrian Youth Stabbed to Death in Fatih, Istanbul
Fatih, Istanbul — A tragic knife attack in Fatih has claimed the life of 19-year-old Syrian youth Ali Anzo following a brawl at dawn yesterday in front of a park on Imam Hussein Street in the Yedikule area.
According to consistent sources, a group of Syrian youths met in the park intending to "reconcile" after a verbal dispute that began on social media, but the meeting quickly escalated into a fight involving knives. Ali Anzo was stabbed in the chest (heart area), while his friend Ali Hilal sustained serious injuries. Both were taken to hospital after emergency and police teams arrived at the scene. Despite doctors' efforts, Anzo succumbed to his wounds; Hilal remains in intensive care.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Hussein Anzo, the victim’s father, said: "My son died immediately... we went to the hospital; he had no prior problem, but he died instantly. All I want is for the state to grant me justice." Ala Hassan, the victim’s cousin, said the dispute began on Instagram and that a reconciliation meeting turned violent, calling on authorities to ensure justice.
Turkish police have opened an investigation and are working to identify and apprehend the suspects. No detailed official statements have yet been released regarding the number of arrests. The local community and the family are urging swift legal action and a full clarification of the circumstances.
