Trump's Declaration and the End of the War: A New Ray of Hope for Gaza
ترامب الرئيس الأمريكي

The joint announcement issued by former U.S. President Donald Trump, in cooperation with Egypt and Saudi Arabia, regarding the end of the war in Gaza sparked a wave of joy and hope among the residents of the enclave, who have endured months of destruction, blockade, and severe humanitarian suffering. The people received this announcement as a breath of life after a long period of pain, expressing their hopes that this step would mark a genuine beginning of a new era of peace and reconstruction.

Citizens gathered in the streets of Gaza; some cheered with joy, while others shed tears out of deep emotion. For them, ending the war does not only mean halting the shelling, but also offers an opportunity to reclaim what remains of their homes and lives. It signifies the start of a new chapter that will restore safety for children and hope for families for a more stable future.

Despite the widespread optimism, residents and civil society actors emphasize the need to implement all phases of the agreement in full. They stress that past experiences have taught them that declarations alone are not enough; what matters most is tangible action on the ground, guaranteeing the commitment of all parties to the terms—especially the reopening of crossings, facilitating humanitarian aid, and immediately beginning reconstruction of infrastructure, homes, hospitals, and schools.

On the other hand, the Palestinian street highly values the role played by Egypt and Saudi Arabia in reaching this historic agreement, believing that this Arab-American cooperation reflects awareness of the importance of ending the cycle of violence that has exhausted everyone.

Today, amidst caution and hope, the people of Gaza stand on the brink of a new phase. While the effects of the war remain visible in every corner, their greatest dream is for this ceasefire to turn into lasting peace, and for them to be given a real opportunity to build a future they deserve after years of suffering.
