Trump Presents Iran with 3 Scenarios — "We May Strike Them Hard"
U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that his administration is considering three scenarios for dealing with Iran: monitoring its deterioration, continuing economic pressure, or striking it hard. He said the U.S. is in a negotiation phase with Iranians he described as "very crafty and cunning."
Trump told Real America Voice that the Iranians "agree to something, then go out and tell the media they did not do it." He said Iran is in "economic chaos," unable to borrow, noting inflation has reached about 300%, its currency is "virtually worthless," and it "isn't paying its soldiers' salaries."
His remarks came as both sides accused each other of dragging out Pakistan-led negotiations, amid reports that Trump sent a revised draft agreement with tougher terms to Tehran. Yesterday Washington made Iran's payment of reparations a basic condition for any future talks to resolve the dispute, in a verbal escalation responding to similar Iranian demands, as attention focused on possible efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
Since the war began in February, Trump's stance has swung between threats of escalation and statements about being close to a peace deal, while the prospect of an agreement remains distant unless either side accepts the other's terms.
