President Donald Trump's administration is demanding that Ukraine sign a treaty granting the United States dominance over major economic projects, according to the Wall Street Journal, which revealed a draft of the document sent to Kyiv.

This American move comes in the context of a clear shift in Washington's policy toward supporting Ukraine, transforming from direct military aid to attempting to achieve tangible economic gains.

The United States specifically seeks preferential participation in Ukrainian infrastructure projects and mineral extraction programs, including rare earth elements and port construction.

Information indicates that these demands reflect Trump's commercial vision for international relations, where he prefers deals that deliver concrete returns for the United States.

The fund, which will be primarily overseen by American representatives, will allocate revenues to cover the expenses of military aid provided by Washington to Kyiv.

This approach represents a radical shift in the nature of the relationship between the two countries, moving beyond the idea of conditional support to something resembling long-term investment.

The newspaper notes that Ukrainian authorities fear that the terms of the agreement will restrict their ability to attract other investors and rebuild infrastructure. Analysts point out that the new American demands may lead to escalating disagreements in relations, especially after the recent dispute between Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky.

These Ukrainian concerns reflect a real dilemma facing Kyiv between the urgent need for American support and the desire to maintain the independence of its economic decision-making.

The Trump administration is trying to end the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, which has continued for more than three years, as soon as possible, and has held talks with Russian and Ukrainian officials.

This move appears to be part of an integrated strategy through which Washington seeks to achieve a diplomatic victory and ensure economic gains simultaneously.

Negotiations have not yet yielded any achievement, despite both parties agreeing earlier this week to a proposed truce in the Black Sea.
