Trump Threatens Iran: Peace or Surrender
Former U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday that Iran must choose between reaching a deal with the United States or "total surrender," after Tehran denied holding any talks with Washington despite Trump announcing that negotiations would resume today.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump called Iran "deceptive" for publicly and proudly stating it is not negotiating, adding, "Whether Iran admits it or not, we are in fact discussing a solution to a problem they caused decades ago." He also referenced the naval blockade imposed on Iran, saying it will not be lifted unless an agreement or "total surrender" is achieved.
Separately, Iranian media reported on Monday that Tehran received a new proposal via Pakistan aimed at de-escalating tensions with the United States. The Iranian agency Entekhab quoted an informed source saying the proposal would see Iran reopen the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for Washington lifting the blockade and maritime measures. The source added that Pakistan's Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi plans to travel to Tehran within a day or two as part of diplomatic efforts to calm tensions and revive channels of dialogue.
