In the early hours of Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump warned Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of the potential negative consequences if he were to backtrack on the rare earth minerals agreement allowing the United States to exploit Ukrainian mineral resources.

During his conversation with reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump indicated that Zelensky would face "big problems" if he decided to abandon this vital agreement. Previously, on Sunday, Trump expressed his frustration towards all parties involved in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, lamenting the ongoing failure to resume ceasefire talks.

The U.S. president's remarks especially targeted Russian President Vladimir Putin, as he threatened to impose new tariffs on Russian oil. NBC's correspondent Kristen Welker reported that Trump had contacted her to express his dissatisfaction with Putin's questioning of Zelensky's future as a leader.

During her program "Meet the Press," Welker relayed Trump's statement that if he could not reach an agreement with Russia to end the conflict, he would impose tariffs on Russian oil.

Welker also noted that Trump was "very angry and upset" about Putin's comments regarding Zelensky's leadership, which included discussions of potential new leadership in Ukraine. Trump mentioned that he intends to speak with the Russian president in the coming week.

In a shift in his tone, Trump directed his anger towards Zelensky, warning him against retreating from the minerals agreement, indicating that such a decision could have serious consequences for him.
