Turkish Airstrikes Commit Horrific Massacre in Northern Syria

A Turkish warplane has committed a horrific massacre against civilians in the rural areas between the villages of Qamji and Barkh Butan, south of the city of Ain al-Arab (Kobani). An airstrike targeted the home of a family engaged in agriculture, resulting in the martyrdom of 9 civilians, including 5 children, and injuring two others with varying degrees of wounds.

The injured were transported to the hospital for treatment, while voices condemning this crime, which represents a blatant violation of human rights, continue to rise. These attacks occur amidst the ongoing Turkish military escalation in Northern Syria, exacerbating the suffering of defenseless civilians.

In this context, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has called on the Turkish government to immediately cease its killing of Syrian civilians and to halt military operations being conducted in the region. According to the Observatory's documentation, since the escalation began on December 12, 2024, the death toll has reached approximately 650 individuals, including:

- 65 civilians (8 women, 9 children, and a journalist).
- 477 members of factions loyal to Turkey, including a sergeant in the Turkish army.
- 104 members of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and affiliated groups, including leaders.
- 4 Turkish troops.

These attacks represent an unprecedented escalation, as Ankara seeks to impose a new on-ground reality amid growing calls to halt military escalation.
