Two Killed in Operations Administration Following Armed Attack on Checkpoint in Latakia
إدارة العمليات

Local media sources reported on Wednesday that an armed attack occurred against a security checkpoint belonging to the Operations Administration at the entrance to the city of Jableh in Latakia Province. The sources confirmed the deaths of two members of this administration, which is affiliated with the new Syrian governance.

This attack comes after the Operations Administration announced weeks ago the launch of a campaign to regularize the status of former members of the Syrian army in the Latakia area.

Since the new administration took over security matters in the country following the fall of former President Bashar al-Assad on December 8 of last year, various factions have carried out searches for remnants of the previous regime in several provinces. In this context, hundreds of soldiers and officers from the Syrian army have surrendered as part of the process to regularize their status.

In a related development, the Operations Administration continues to pursue "Assad's men," the officers who remained armed and refused to regularize their status. They have been arrested in preparation for their transfer to judicial authorities for fair trials.
