The impact on the telecommunications sector in southern Syria poses an additional challenge for residents already suffering from difficult living conditions and frequent interruptions of basic service

The Director of Daraa Telecommunications Branch, Engineer Ahmed Al-Hariri, announced a complete outage of telecommunications and internet services in the governorates of Daraa and Sweida, due to damage to the fiber optic cable connecting Daraa and Damascus, as a result of repeated attacks targeting telecommunications infrastructure.
Al-Hariri explained, in a statement to the Syrian News Agency "SANA," that these attacks led to the destruction of the main fiber optic cable, which connects the two governorates to the main telecommunications centers, resulting in a complete collapse of the service.
He emphasized that maintenance crews from the Syrian Telecommunications Corporation continue to work around the clock to fix the malfunction and restore service as quickly as possible, noting that the pace of repair is linked to the availability of necessary supplies to complete maintenance operations comprehensively.
Al-Hariri added that such incidents negatively affect citizens and hinder essential services related to telecommunications and the internet, appealing for the necessity of preserving telecommunications infrastructure to ensure continuity of services without interruption.
