UNICEF warns of imminent danger of water scarcity on Iraqi children

The Xinhua reported, the UN Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) in Iraq warned on Sunday of the imminent danger of water scarcity on Iraqi children's health and future.

According to the Xinhua, the UNICEF said in a statement based on its new report that "nearly three out of five children in Iraq have no access to safely managed water services, while less than half of all schools in the country have access to basic water."

It added, that will risk Iraqi children's health, nutrition, cognitive development and future livelihoods.

The Xinhua sai according to the statement that Sheema Sen Gupta, UNICEF representative in Iraq, said children cannot develop and thrive to their full potential at that level of water scarcity.

The UNICEF said that it will continue supporting the federal and regional governments, local partners, civil society and private sectors to address the vulnerability of water resources in the Middle East and North Africa.

Aimed at secondary school students, the event brought together a distinguished group of academic professionals and technology experts to mentor and inspire young participants.
More than 100 high school students from across the Kingdom of Bahrain took part in the hackathon, which featured an intensive programme of training workshops and hands-on sessions. These activities were tailored to enhance participants’ critical thinking, collaborative problem-solving, and team-building capabilities, while also encouraging the development of practical and sustainable solutions to contemporary challenges using modern technological tools.
BENEFIT’s Chief Executive Mr. Abdulwahed AlJanahi, commented: “Our support for this educational hackathon reflects our long-term strategic vision to nurture the talents of emerging national youth and empower the next generation of accomplished female leaders in technology.
