Iran Implements Tight Security Measures on Officials Following Israeli Escalation

Iran's cybersecurity leadership announced on Tuesday a decision to ban the use of all devices connected to communication networks and public telecommunications by officials and their protection teams. This measure aims to strengthen information security and protect officials from tracking and hacking attempts, according to Iran's Mehr news agency.
This decision comes amid a recent series of assassinations targeting Iranian military leaders and scientists since last Friday, following a surprise attack by Israel on Iran that resulted in the killing of several prominent leaders and activists within the country.
In the context of escalation, Israeli Ambassador to Washington, Yohanan Litter, revealed Israel's intention to carry out a “large operation” against Iran within the coming week. He did not specify the nature or timing of the operation but warned of a “surprise” during Thursday and Friday, indicating that the upcoming action could be very intense. Litter compared this potential strike to previous Israeli operations, such as the targeting of communication devices and broadcasts in Lebanon last year.
In related developments, Iranian news agency فارس (Fars) reported that Israel uses mobile phone tracking technologies, even for phones turned off, to locate high-ranking Iranian officials for assassination. The agency stated that this technology was responsible for the assassination of former Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.
Fars also confirmed that turning off phones during meetings or security operations does not guarantee the secrecy of locations, and Iranian media advise using secure, anti-tracking phones to reduce the risk of exposure.
Meanwhile, Israeli newspaper Maariv reported that Iranian security agencies have instructed senior officers and government officials to gather their new and surrounding phones to avoid revealing sensitive locations, considering these measures necessary in light of ongoing Israeli threats and attacks.
Through these security measures, Iran emphasizes its intent to bolster its cyber defenses amid continued regional tensions and an unprecedented escalation between the two countries.
