Casualties from Uncontrolled Weapons in Various Parts of Syria

Amid the deteriorating security situation and the chaos of weapon proliferation among civilians across all regions of Syria, the phenomenon of reckless gunfire and weapon misuse continues to cause the deaths and injuries of dozens of innocent people.
Social occasions, celebrations, and even personal disputes have turned into bloody scenes that plunge families into grief and loss, while this phenomenon persists in inflicting wide-ranging social and humanitarian destruction.
During the first half of August, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented a series of tragic incidents in areas controlled by different military factions, resulting in the deaths and injuries of many individuals, most of whom are women and children.
According to the Observatory’s records, the death toll reached 29 people, including 13 children and 4 women, while 27 others were injured, including 16 children. These incidents varied from reckless gunfire during fights and celebrations to weapon mishandling inside homes and hand grenade explosions, reflecting the fragility of the security situation shared across all Syrian regions without exception.
- Areas under Damascus government control: 16 civilians killed, including 7 children and a woman, and 10 wounded, including 9 children and a woman.
- Areas under Autonomous Administration control: 6 killed, including a woman and two children, and 16 injured, including 6 children and 4 women.
- Areas under the Provisional Government: 7 killed, including 4 children and a young woman, with a girl injured.
