Escalation of ISIS Operations in Areas Controlled by the Autonomous Administration in Syria
The year 2025 has seen a significant escalation in the offensive activities carried out by ISIS cells within the areas controlled by the Autonomous Administration in Syria, particularly in the provinces of Raqqa and Hasakah. The operations are repeated intensively, highlighting the group's ability to exploit security weaknesses and rebuild itself despite losing control of territories more than seven years ago.
The methods of attack have varied, including bombings, ambushes, and assassinations, indicating that ISIS has not been completely defeated but is striving to maintain its presence and influence in the security scene. It still poses an ongoing threat to stability.
According to statistics from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, ISIS cells have conducted 31 operations in the Raqqa and Hasakah regions since the beginning of the year, resulting in the killing of 27 people, including ISIS members, security forces, and SDF forces. Additionally, 19 others were injured, and two civilians were killed.
These figures reflect the group's continued ability to reorganize and execute surprise attacks despite the significant losses and ground defeat. This underscores the need to strengthen security and intelligence measures in areas under the control of the SDF to prevent its return and protect civilians.
