Four Internal Security Forces Members Killed and Others Wounded in Clashes in al-Sanamayn
Four members of the Internal Security Forces were killed and others wounded early Thursday during armed clashes that erupted in the city of al-Sanamayn, in northern rural Daraa, as security forces carried out an operation targeting several wanted individuals.
Field sources said that a patrol affiliated with the Internal Security Forces raided a house where several wanted individuals were reportedly sheltering. When the force attempted to arrest them, it encountered armed resistance and came under heavy gunfire and direct fire from several positions around the area.
According to initial information, the clashes resulted in the deaths of Mustafa Saad al-Din, Salloum al-Masalmeh, and Nael al-Safadi, in addition to a fourth member whose identity has not yet been established. Several other patrol members sustained injuries of varying severity.
Following the outbreak of the clashes, the Internal Security Forces imposed a curfew throughout the city and deployed security reinforcements to the area of the clashes in an attempt to restore control and prevent the fighting from spreading.
The details and final outcome of the operation remain unclear, as a state of heightened security alert continues in the city of al-Sanamayn.
