The Dalil platform revealed horrifying details of a murder carried out by a Syrian Public Security officer near Mount Qasioun in the capital, Damascus. The victim was a young man in his twenties, who was wearing shorts at the time of the incident. According to the testimony of the injured young man, Youssef Arman, who was with his cousin Fawaz Al-Omari, they recognized the perpetrator during the evening, as he started to approach them with friendliness before embarking on the tragic event.
In his account, Youssef explained that the attacker stopped them and inquired about why they were wearing shorts. He stayed with them for three hours before suggesting they go to Mount Qasioun despite it being closed at night, claiming he could sneak past the barrier. When they approached a military checkpoint, the attacker surprised the two young men with a mocking question before opening fire. Fawaz was struck in the neck by a fatal bullet, while Youssef was wounded in the shoulder.
Despite his injury, Youssef managed to pull Fawaz out of the car, which later collided with a dirt mound and caught fire, enabling them to escape quickly via the Mureenah Road. It was reported that hours later, the attacker was stopped at a road checkpoint, and it turned out he was an security officer working in the same sector.
In initial investigations, the attacker justified his crime by believing that the two young men were "Shabiha," due to the luxury car they were driving, and claimed his motives were revenge and greed to rob them. The Dalil platform confirms that Youssef recorded his testimony himself and submitted it as an official statement, demanding accountability for the perpetrator and urging against looking for excuses for his crime. He also warned against any attempts to cast doubt on the truth of his account.
While there have been circulating reports about a picture believed to be of the killer, the platform emphasizes caution, confirming the necessity of waiting for official investigation results.
